Sensitivity pot adjustment change how to??

I would like to change the range of control of my sensitivity pot on my Detectorpro Wader.
Appears like any adjustment below 8 is useless, only useful range area is from 8-10.
How can I spread the useful range over a wider area of the pot. I would like to spread the adjustment of 8-10 range down to the 4-10 range.

Current range 1-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10
change to 1-----8--------------10

Do I need to change the pot or add a resistor?

you could link two pots a normal pot plus a multiturn pot at summary they should have same resitance as the original one but it could be complicate not enough space to build in i see

Detector has no issues, originally recalibrated by Detectorpro to factory spec.

Could a multi turn trimmer pot be put inside and the one currently used left outside?
