  • Magnum - to Carl

    Hi !

Carl I've replaced zener diode and te voltage is acceptable so I didn't wached tech forum I've completed Magnum constuction and it was working !!! (for a whie :-( so I've connected everything again (I've add faraday shield)and it wasn't working :-( IC9 or IC 10 was damaged then I saw your reply for my message "magnum transistor voltage" whwre you said that zener diode is connected inccorrectly in magnum plans, anyway could it be reason for burning these IC's or maybe this is tr3 fault ?

btw. did you hear about modified magnum called "tesla"

No, the zener hookup should only affect the startup of the voltage reference - at worst, the reference won't start up and the 11.2v stays low. I don't see a way that TR3 could damage the ICs either; in fact, I don't see how IC9 & 10 could burn up unless there is a serious hookup problem.

No, I have not. How is it modified?
