Are you trying to say that the fact that Nexus coil is resonant, and others not, is not relevant?
I think it is more relevant than just comparing plain diameters.

Also you used term "area" and not some other...

I dont remeber too much reading about this question.
I made only one OO resonant coil so far. I can't tell.
DD resonant coil is tough to make in home made arrangement (ask Qiaozhi! )
But i bet OO coil will perform much better in any case.

The fact that the OO coils are resonant is very important.
DD resonant coils are not quite as good as OO coils regarding performance, but still perform better than non-resonant.

Here is a prototype resonant DD coil for Nexus, built by Georgi as an experiment.

              Pretty cool!

I think that dimension for OO coil have to be given in eliptical coil manner, say 6"x10" and not only 6" (this can be misleading).

                Nice resonant DD coil prototype.

In case we take only exact area under each coil, we will get these results:

(I can't tell exactly about OO coil, because i don't know exact overlap area)

...but it is obvious that OO coil is covering smaller area, even if overlap is not subtracted...
But considering the superior OO geometry comparing to not so superior DD geometry, we should also take that as very important factor which can affect final performances.
Along with geometry; there is also "resonance factor" too.

Fact is that this is not "battle" between specific machines - but "battle" between quite different concepts: resonant and non resonant.
                      So,
considering so small difference in areas and also so small difference in
gained results on test - i may say that XP (as machine only, with "conventional" concept) is holding pretty good indeed!
If we take that XP was with resonant OO coils too, same sized too... than i bet results would be astonishing!
That's my point from the beginning; considering the concept - XP is holding pretty good.
(Honestly speaking; all those from the list are holding just nice, to be fair! )

Hey WM6 i see what you mean ,ye what ill do is ill confirm with Georgi whats up with that and see if they can maybe replace that chart with a clearer and more up to date version with additional left out anomalies
                        Take care my friend.
