  • C.Scope coils and connector

I have a CS1MX, which works just fine. In the 1220 thread, Ivconic mentioned that most (if not all) C.Scope coils are interchangeable on the current designs being the IsoCon coil. I would like to modify my CS1MX with one of the new DD coils that are coming soon. What is the connector type and pinout C.Scope uses on their machines? Would changing the coil need to tune the internals? Does anybody know how to do that?

Thanks for any help on this topic!

Isocon search head is having center tapped TX and simple RX coils.
Also there are few passive components inside the search head.
Logically such search head is having 5 leads coming from search head to electronics.
Not necessary all those to be used.
At 1220B only 3 wires are hooked to main pcb.
There are 2 shorted in connector and one not used but present in connector (i guess it is center tap).
Whether all leads will be used or not, and how those will be connected - that depends mostly on exact MD model.
All the Isocon search heads are pretty the same, but all the machines from same model must be precisely adjusted to specific coil.
      That depends of exact model.
Usually Cscope put adjustable capacitor and few trimmers by which it can be done.
Pity, but we don't have here CS1MX schematic so to know how to adjust it for specific coil.
If any help; you may analyze CS2MX schematic and 1220B schematic and search for some analogy.
But already knowing from my previous experiences; i must tell you not to worry - i am sure you will solve this pretty easy.
Just obtain coil and compare features.
      Try and experiment.
      You will have success.
      Cheers!

        Aha! One more thing!
Try to locate somewhere on these forums the document about 1220B.
It is setting up procedure explained in steps.
        Very nice and educational.
There you have all the details how to adjust the inner presets, what and how to measure and how to adjust.
What is done there for 1220B - also can be used for any other similar Cscope detector.

Hi, it is not out yet. It should be availabe before Christmas. Also, there are rumors that DeTech will produce some as well.

We do not have a schematic (yet), but I have made some pictures of mine inside - the gallery starts here: http://s1203.photobucket.com/albums/...t=P1010121.jpg

I can send the full resolution pictures if needed. I have not much time/skills to trace it.

            Excellent photos!
            Thanks for uploading those!
I see now, you have model from newer series...
Might be is possible to analyze photos and see it's "structure", i will try that.
If i found something that can be useful for you - i will post here later.
            Cheers!

Just for fun i made skim sketch according to photos!
It can be done more better, of course, right now i don't have time to continue.
But here it is and it can serve you as sort of reminder.
Just write in to it values and keep it as reminder.
You may also suggest some corrections, because i can not see clearly all the traces...
But as for even now; i can see lot of similarities and analogy with CS2MX which schematic we do have on forum.
So eventually you can use CS2MX schematic to compare and analyze. I bet those are pretty similar.
Seems there is no "traditional" Cscope adjustable trimmer capacitor to tune up, on this machine?
Eventually you can mod a bit that 47nF capacitor which is already present on pcb.
But first just simply hook up the desired coil and try, because there is huge chance that it will work just nice even without additional tuning!
              Cheers!
