  • Another Chance Display Problem

    Hello

Have a little problem with the chance Kit from Silverdog.
I assembled everything but the display is not working, only the backlight lighten
up when i press a button. i see no characters.

The PCB and electronic look ok, when power up i can push the button and i hear a peep.
sometimes higher or lower like raisin a bar in the menu.
    Nothing is heatin up.

I checked the connection from the X3 Display plug to the Display twice. Pin 1 from the PCB gets to Pin 1 to the Display etc... Pin 7-10 is dead and then i connected the rest. But no Characters.

The only thing is, on refence designs i saw, that they use on R24 a 22k resistor poti for LCD Kontrast. On my PCB there is also place for a poti, but i the package was only a 22k standard 22k Resistor. So i soldered the normal one on place. Could this be the problem?

    Hope that someone can help.

Of course it's going to be the problem. The 22k ohm pot is the max resistance allowed. If you replace this pot with a 22k resistor, you will see nothing but the back light. Replace 22k resistor with a 1.5k-2.5k resistor.

    It should solve your problem.
