Hello everyone on this forum! Thank you for having me and I appreciate all of the participation.
I am new here on the forum, but have been reading, researching and detecting for quite some time now, since the mid 90's. I have a Fisher 1266-X with an 11 inch Hot Head coil, and will I not give it up since it is such a great VLF MD!
I have spent countless years, hours and many days researching the MD forums all over the Internet, and also have read the Geotech website for many years, since the original Hammerhead I was invented, which seemed to be cutting edge technology and theory at the time (THANK YOU Carl!). I have been on a 'hiatus' for a while, but have chosen to get back into MD'ing after about 10 years. I want to build a kit PI MD, but I don't want to waste time and money (I am unemployed now) with an MD kit or a homebrew MD that won't perform well. I may be asking alot here, but I would appreciate input and opinions as to which PI kit/PI that I can build that will be well worth the time, effort and money.
I know it may not live up to my expectations in regards to the depth and sensitivity of the trusty 1266-X, but I may be wrong!
As such, I have a vast and very extensive electronics background to the component level, as well as current technology and extensive circuit and system design. I am an electronics engineer, and have mostly RF experience with VLF to UHF/Radar transmitters and recievers, so theory any practical experimentation, along with circuitry design and understanding is not a problem. I simply don't have time to sit and design my own PI MD, yet I have built pinpoint probes and the FMG Mag, which works awesome! I live in South Florida and want something to MD at the beach for the beach/wet sand that would perform well, as the 1266-X is a bit to 'crazy' for wet beach sand. I would love to hear your comments, input and thoughts regarding a PI MD for the type of detecting I will use it for. Thank you so much in advance, and have a very Happy New Year!
