Hi guys,
I've been thinking of purchasing the kit on eBay (from Bulgaria) and wanted to know if any of you have ever looked at it and if so, what your opinion was of the quality, etc.?
Also, I'm not all that electronically-savy. The biggest project I've done is replace a powerjack on my Compaq computer last year and had to tear everything out (including the motherboard) to reach it. I didn't have any of the ribbon that you normally use to wick away excess solder, so I just used a piece of fine multi-strand wire coated with flux. It seemed to work well and cleaned it up nicely. The jack soldered on well and looked like the other soldered connections on the board, so *I think* I did OK. I was very methodical about it and the thing worked for about 6 months until the video card konked out. The computer was pretty old anyway - otherwise I probably wouldn't have chanced it. That project was the extent of my genius
...
I guess what I'm wondering is if you (the experts) think I could handle soldering on the pots, etc? In case you don't know, the kit comes with the PCB assembled & tested, pots, jacks, buttons, control box, etc. (I'm not sure I can post links, yet.) I thought about chancing it and trying to assemble it myself (from what I've seen I think I could handle it), but *if* I goof it up somehow I don't really know where else to turn.
That brings me to one more possibility. Would any of you consider assembling the kit for me? And what do you think it would cost? I'm located in Nebraska, USA. I'd also want a 5' x 5' coil built for it. I can do the PVC frame, myself. I know of at least one other person who might be looking for a similar solution. I don't know his specific requirements, though.
Your thoughts are greatly appreciated
I'm kind of pressed for time - I've only got about 2 months to get into the cornfield before they plant.
