My "other" hobby is electronic music synthesizers (wrote a Sams book years ago).
So what's so special about the audio vco behavior?

I have read that GS5 is at least 90-95% the same with TDI. If so, then this schematic is not from GS5. But i must thanks to Elbombaci for this schema.

Doesn't "Wowww" and "Weeee" aptly describe just about any VCO as it slews lower or higher in frequency? I think so.

What we need is a VCO that can work with a bipolar input voltage, or some way to offset the output from the final amplifier.

Geo, this definately looks like an Eric Foster project and I'd be willing to bet it is the GS5, but for missing the last page. The GS5 Operating Instructions does mention a couple of things not shown on this schematic, but the schematic here looks like a pretty good start.

          Thank you, elbombaci.

edit: 6666, I think that the 470Ω resistor won't work. 47Ω would be correct.
edit: One more thing, the audio should get louder no matter whether the VCO swings higher or lower.

For the sake of simplicity, when the audio tone rises, this was described as a WEE. When the audio tone falls; a WOO.

Goldscan 5 either does a WEE, or a WOO and only rarely, both.

A WEE indicates a target that has a faster decay than the iron mineralised ground. This would include most small and some medium nuggets. A WOO, indicates a target that has a slower decay than the ground.

              Any chance for a PCB?
              Seem promising.

I think "VCO GS V" could be similar to "GS 4" but with two channels for processing positive and negative signals separately, with different tone oscillators, which eventually would be added in the audio amplifier.
                It's just my opinion.
                regards

                  1. promising if there are desoldered PCB photos in HD (High Definition) resolution or scan 600 dpi of the both sides.
                  2. promising if there is a full Part List. all resistors and capacitors are due measured.

                    What I see missing.

                    The input to the CD4001

Gb/disc switch (only a label showing)

The gate inputs to J113's on page 2

                    Missing 1/4 LT1114 opamp

                    VCO

                    Audio output amp.

If you search the findmall pi forum. Eric talks about designing this circuit
and and how he was improving the audio section over the GS4.

I agree with Alex and Jose, the missing parts are important.

                      goldskan 4 evolution
that I am at elbombaci would anyone no piece sematic some which are as honest and character people ...some would take all and that no nothing to give disaster !!!

Do you GS 5 has a resistor in series with the winding coil ? As has SL TDI Whites ![IMG][/IMG]
