Arduino based VDI!

Hello,

i was trying to Arduino & IDX PRO VDI but my IDX PRO (IDX final schmatic) doesnt see Silver ? disc pot is working i can erase all metals but in any position of disc Pot it doesnt see silver and not stable VDI also i can see difference 1 euro and beer tab on arduino but what can be wrong on my circuit or Coil ?

Can be wrong ground adjust or bad rx tank. Try on TX to put 330N and for RX 10N.

If you cannot detect silver that could mean that your phasing is a little off. The way I build my coils, there is a null spot while ground balancing to ferrite. One side of the ground balance, silver is not detectable.

i tested also ground balace POT possibilities and NO SILVER again. tomorrow i will have another coil Maxima 1500 and we will see...

Can anyone test that IDX PRO arduino VDI can show VDI number in how many CM ? i need data for 1 euro for exampe 30cm detect distance and 20cm VDI result distance...

As i remember, my was between 85 to 90, but also depend on how you set disc pot.

i got Maxima 1500 Coil now and first test is ok it detect silver no problem...
also disc pot works well and sensitive.

and 1Euro(1 Turkish Lira) 35cm noisy... 28-30cm good clear. i will see VDI test tonight.

how can i improve distance more? 1 euro must be 50cm for this coil ? .....

50cm for one 1€, yes no Problem, give more power on tx and you will receive your 50cm
but in real ground you get more falsing

if you pickup a 1€ coin at 20cm in real ground while discriminating a screwdriver or a big nail the detector works good, if you get 30cm it is top

I used the machine for a couple of years. Large copper coins 10" in the ground is pushing its limit. Small silver under 7" I didn't use enough discrimination to fully knock out iron but listen to the break up of the sound through quality headphones. Otherwise sensitivity tiny silver on its edge is nearly halved

Made several coils. Having a coil that runs quite in the field is for more important than out and out depth. Otherwise you will miss all those faint signals.

Can I substitute mcp602 for lm358?

It looks pin compatible , for testing .

lm358 has output range (V+) −1.5V so it will only drive it up to 3.5V. (mcp602 would go to about 5V) Other than this its OK.

It will be noticed in the operation of the vdi the voltage difference?

since ADC will now work with about 2/3 of its possible range (0-3.5V, vs 0-5V); VDI will not be as good; that being said I think it will work since the min/max values of the ADC are setup parameters. You may have to lift the coil up from the ground to prevent more signal into range below 3.5V. You not risking anything; chips are pin compatible; just swap in 602 if/when you get it.

The shipment of ebay was lost and I will make a second order of mcp602, while using a provisional lm358.
