  • Surf Pi Neewb using scope !

    Hi Guys.

I just got a scope from ebay, don't really know much about them but i think i have something set up right as i get screen similar to the ones on this link.

However, when i adjust the delay trimmer, my signal does not shift, it just widens ! is this correct ? look at this video i made and please feel free to tell me anything because it will be all good for me, I don;t know much ! lol

The detector works fine btw. just want to know more. Also, should i be able to hear the coil resonating ? because i can.

What other measurements shoul i make on the board or is that all ? just tp1 and tp2

      You have 2 probe's,

probe 1: connect to the IRF9640 body (the hole in the metal plate) and the ground connector to...ground (the shield from the coil cable ) this cannel 1 needs to be the 'trigger channel'. What you see now on channel 1 is the transmit puls.

Now with probe 2 you can follow the other signals, look at Ne5534 pin 6 for the amplifierd output from the receive signal. Set probe 2 to dc to adjust the offset zero ( scope 100mV div),

Look at 4093 pin3 for first delay 'window' (scope 5V div) and 4093 pin 4 for second delay 'window' . At 4066 pin 12 you see the switching that make's the audio signal ( 4066 pin11 to gnd pin10)

      Success.

      to all:
This is my way... can be that there are better methods ... so correct me if so, no hard feelings!

Is this done while the coil is NOT connected ? i get different readings when coil is disconnected and when it is connected, do i set it up first with scope and THEN connect coil ?

        thanks in advance
