    Hey all!
I know some of you have been following my xpi project over on http://www.miymd.com but I thought I'd share a little bit about what's going on with it here.

I've got the new boards back from the pcb factory in china, they all looked good but had the odd short that had to be fixed.

I've populated a few of them and they seems to be working nice, crude tests show a 5c piece at 8" using a 3" test coil - also tests very good on sub gram gold which is what I will mainly use it for.

The ADC is a 16 bit 2MSPS and is one of the lowest noise chips available with reasonable source Independence.

There is a SPDT switch at the input to the HS op amps that prevent's them from getting saturated during the peak flyback.

This project runs off the XMOS XS1 L1 Chip - 400 MHZ 8 threaded processor which is just awesome! Completely programmable in c and very easy to integrate into projects, there $7 in single qty's

It will be a little while before I get the graphics lcd all hooked up again but all in all the new motherboard and redesigned adc board is showing lots of promise!

I've attached a few pics but if you want more you can go to http://miymd.com/images/

    Here from ya all soon!

    Great work Jon. Congratulations.

Can you say something about sensitivity to 1 gram nugget and coil used in such test?

      1 gram gold sensitivity

      Hi WM6,
I don't like to use depth numbers because depth depends on allot of factors, EM Interference, Ground Materialization, Ground Noise, Wind, operator skill and biggest of all the character of the nugget itself, but here is generally what I find (I could post pics of the nuggets too if you like)
.23 gram is max around 6.7" on a 6" coil, anything below .23 grams and depth cuts off sharply.
      I don't have a nugget exactly 1 gram but a 1.6 gram nugget is around 10" on a 6" coil

The soil here in BC where I test is around 10% iron so it's pretty hot ground but I guess that is only relative to other areas.

The coil I'm using is 28 guage?? (been too long to remember) Teflon insulated wire and has an inductance of around 295uh, it's shielded with some kind of silver tape I had sitting around that seems to conduct some electricity.

Going to buy a professionally made ML coil soon to compare results and perfect my design.

          pretty nice!

i wouldn't mind getting a board from ya, let me know
