  • Hi guys,

if you need some help (i.e. money) to develop a metal detector / demining detector, just apply in the European Union.
    http://cordis.europa.eu/home_en.html

There are many other organisations you could ask/apply for of course.
    Cheers,
    Aziz

        • Litigation in the Australian Federal Court

          Hi All,

Heard some news on the grapevine and found the following link (https://www.comcourts.gov.au/file/Federal/P/SAD226/2012/actions#;javascript:void(0);) if you wish to follow what happens and give your support.

Please also see the attached court orders. Looks like minelab's patent attorneys will get a pretty good idea about the QED and how it works from this lot.....

Obviously Bugwhiskers and anyone else involved won't be able to say much, but that doesn't apply if you are not involved with the QED or the case.

As someone with no involvement with the QED, my initial comment is that this is a sign that homebrew detector technology is approaching or exceeding commercial designs.

Lets hope this is one for innovation over idea restraint.

Aziz, probably not the QED, but poisonous concomitant anti-ML propaganda, that has gone out of all proportion of healthy taste.

If BW project was developed in silence and without constant crazy attacks on "flounders", ML will left it quite alone, no matter of it success.

BW was warned many times by me and others to not exceed the limits, but he unfortunately succumbed to incitement of dugs and hugs.

                  Bull-****e!!!

ML is only seeking help to improve their detectors.
                  *LOL*

No, just look at the schematics and you can see, that the QED is very very dangerours to the market leader's top bench orbital overpriced detectors!!!

I wonder, whether they will sue me with my "World's best ground balance system" too. This is a technology, which even Mr. Candy can't do it.
                  *LOL*

Let's wait and see, what the court says!

This should be a lesson to anyone who has the inclination to hang around with Doug. Are you taking notice Aziz?

                            • Its not nice to be taken to court in Australia, especially by a company with cash in their pockets. Lawyers don't come cheap and unlike in the US we don't really have no win no fee arrangements. Access to good legal support is really for the rich here. I am not sure of where or whether Bugwhiskers crossed the line but NORMALLY companies don't chase lone tinkerers unless their sales or reputation are threatened. That said a patent confers a temporary right to exclude others from making using, selling and offering for sale that can be enforced by the courts- and that can be against a 'hobbyist'. All the same I would strongly encourage everyone to vote for the fantastic innovation I see that the forums encourage and not change what we do- otherwise the world does not move forward. Having said that follow, watch and learn and figure out where the line might be if its not already obvious.

If they are restraining innovation then shame on ML and the detector world should know, if they are protecting their commerce then that is their right. It is notable that if they do pursue this and Bugwhiskers can find 'prior art' for the patent they cite against him, then ML risk having their patent ruled invalid. One reason that companies don't chase or drop actions is that risk. If anyone is sympathetic to Bugwhisker's plight then the best way to help is if/ when the patent is known, you can find 'prior art'. In other words, that the patent (ie the invention that is the subject of the claims) was already known when the patent was filed (priority date) then let him know privately. This is where the power of the forum and internet can help. If you aren't sympathetic, that is your right too!
