I've seen it. It is a big overkill for my needs.

Yes, I thought it was interesting in its inductance measuring mode as it may double as a susceptibility meter, particularly as you can change the test frequency and measure frequency dependent susceptibility - viscosity.

What do you want me to post? So far, I have only read the articles in Elektor. I may build one when the loaded boards are available.

          Eric.

kabier, ERIC isn't going to BUILD ONE! He is only going to BUY a Pre-Populated Board as below.

Here is the site to BUY the Complete Board + LCD modual AND all Tested for ONLY US $285+ ???.

              http://be.eurocircuits.com/shop/Offtheshelf/product.aspx?&ano=110758-93&ad=19205&lang=en&r=elektor-pcb-service

In the Lower Right are two FREE PDF's on Usage and Calabration.

The difference in price between the populated and tested Main Board and the lcd modual isn't that much.
Personally THIS DIY insturment is massave overkill for most of what our needs are here on this site. I think most of us could get by with a $50-60 dollar LC meter and spend the difference on a GOOD Used O-Scope in the 20MHZ range.
If I was going to do this I would just buy a CHEAP China Ebay one and then see if the parts could be upgraded or just make a good Calibrated Resister and Inductor and Capacitor net work and shoot a signial from a 555 through it and measure the thing with the oscope and then Calculate the different values for the componets we used. Then use those calc's to set/0 our meters.

Here is a Very Good and basic site to find out about basic electronics AND in particular how to take resisters and make Adjustable precision resistor networks. I'm sure that the same principal can be used to to make L and C net works also.

If you don't need the same features as the Elektor.

Search around there are plans and kits for a pic micochip LC meter. It works very well. I think the circuit was discussed here on Geotech.

Now there are prebuilt clones on ebay for less than the cost of the parts(<$30 free shipping). Search "LC meter"
