I have been using 1/16" thick ABS from US plastics. It's fine for filled shells.. a little light for larger clam shells.

Not bad.. you are getting there. I went with a thicker form and eventually a two stage, vacuum cleaner for initial pull down and vacuum pump (air compressor intake) / vacuum tank and it made all the difference. I recently built an oven from an old 1500W heater and got the stinky plastic out of the wifes kitchen too.

Yes, it's just a spare air tank. See attached.

                  Hi Don
You have got my interest now. I like your pdf files. Do you have a file for your 1500W oven?
                  Thank you,
                  Chet

                    Hi Chet.
I picked up a portable electric heater at a flea market for $5.00 and just repurposed the heating elements. I'm sure that I could come up with a link to a source for the elements. I also cut some corners on material. I lined a box with concrete backer board, which is not the right thing to do at all but I have not had any sort of problem yet. The walls of the oven get to around 250 degrees F but should be good for around 600. Ideally, a refractory material should be used. Anyway, my oven is 16" x 16" x 6" deep. It also has no thermostat so I need to manually monitor the temp which as not been a problem so far. I should be looking for a set of plans!!
                    Don..

Those pdf's must be printed and glued on the wall in my room.
Great job Don, nothing less expected from you.

What type of potting compound do you plan on using?

PU Spray first, and resin fiber at top PU

Was just watching your vid and you mentioned mfg's use forced air to remove the plastic from the shell, maybe just reverse your shop vac hose from intake to exhaust to force the new shell off. seems like it would work easier than beating the wood form out on the ground... just a thought, hec you probably have already tried that...
