  • 3$ coil cable

Here's a cheap method to create a test cable that fits the Tesoro and Garrett coils and probably many others...

The secret sauce is the MOLEX connector which are commonly used in power supplies, they are a snug fit to the Tesoro and Garrett coils.
The cable can be arbitrary but since I wanted to hook up the coil to my sound card I chose a RCA to 3.5mm audio jack cable.

    Tools needed:
    - Soldering Iron

    Ingredients:

    - RCA to 3.5mm audio jack cable - 2$
    - MOLEX Male Connector - 1$
    - Shrink Tube out of my junk box

If you are looking for original connectors:

Tesoro 4 Pin Connector is a Switchcraft connector:
    - Female Cable Connector: SL404FX (http://www.switchcraft.com/Drawings/...sl405fx_cd.pdf)
    - Male Cable Connector: SL404MX (http://www.switchcraft.com/Drawings/...sl405mx_cd.pdf)
    - Plug: SL184MX (http://www.switchcraft.com/Drawings/..._series_cd.pdf)

Garrett AC250 5 Pin Connector is a Microphone Connector for HAM Radios, I found this one to fit (from a german supplier but I'm sure these are just rebranded):
    - Female Cable Connector: NC-516 from Alan Electronics (http://www.alan-electronics.de/main....etail&artdet=a)
    - Plug: NC-517 from Alan Electronics (http://www.alan-electronics.de/main....etail&artdet=a)

The Garret coil connectors are quite reasonably priced (about 5$) but the Switchcraft connectors are hard to find at a good price

I've attached some pictures of the result

Nice, I had the same idea but I don't have any spare tesoro connectors. Where did you get the tesoro connectors? I've looked everywhere but haven't found anything with a reasonable price / shipping costs to Switzerland.

        hello sled

together with a coil i got a used extension cable (maybe the cheapest way to get the switchcraft plugs)
        ebay.co.uk

with this connector i can mount all my diy coils to tesoro detector without breaking the warranty bey opening the enclosure or changing some parts

        regards form germany
