  • Coil winder from a bike frame.

Getting ready to try some VLF coil winding. Only 6 hooks shown, but use as many as needed to acquire shape. The board is 42cm/16.5 inch, so will make up to a 15 inch coil.
I marked various size circles on the face for size reference. Wire spindle is clutched with a spring and large washer. Alignment bobbin made from the cutout piece from board centre, with pieces cut from a fridge shelf with a holesaw epoxied either side.
Had to remove crank to take inner sprocket off- that's now part of the spacer for the winding board. Crank arm was cut off in-situ.
Handle-bars clamped into seat bracket wit a tin spacer shim. Quite stable.
$5 counter from fleabay, mounted with zip-ties, on rubber tube around frame to stop it slipping, but allow some movement and shock absorbtion. No more losing count of winds.
    All very technical.

Cheers Andy. I will get my other commitments out the way this week, and return to the 'tectas with a vengeance- I have your IDXpro, IGSLmusky, Chance and MPP to do, plus Newhobbys Magnum, and a Hammerhead (8, actually). This should help with them pesky VLF coils. Summer is almost upon us here-38C tomorrow.
Admiral, Arado, Diablo, Lobo, Pickini4, GS5 etc., etc., etc. So many wonderful projects here!
I have a press-mold for PVC 10x5's- might make one for 10 round next. If I do I will post it here in T&T.

Sorry WM6, can you re-phrase the question. I could not understand?
It is a 26 inch mountain bike frame.

                  Nothing important Tim.
I only try to joke who drive and who serve your bike recreation.
                  Great idea .
Wish you good success with coils.
