  • Has anyone ever encapsulated a camera in clear epoxy?

Ive seen a few donw and wonder what those companies are using for a clear
epoxy to seal the camera and other parts in a solid block.

I suppose you could cast them in solid acrylic. I think you can buy that stuff for making homemade paperweights and so forth.

But you should fin a way so the resin keep clear from the the optical sensor/lens path .Also keep in mind eventual dilatation that could damage components.

Or the solvents in the resin. Underwater camera cases are cheaper that the resin.

To get some good pictures the part infront of the lense should be glass.

The most simple underwater-digicam can be built with a stable and clear lookthroughable freezing-plastic bag!
But for better quality you should replace the part for the lense with a little round glass window, waterproofed attached or glued to the stable plastic-bag.
Don't use cheap and very thin plastic-bag for this because if it gets a little scratch, it can destroy your camera already very fast under water.

If you have 100-200 bucks you can find some digicams for underwater inclusive fiting plastic housing on the internet.
Be shure to buy one which has inbuilt flashlight because underwater you will need it much more often.
