  • control markings etc

    Hi everyone
Can anyone give advise on what to use for end user markings on final construction of product housings ie: volume, gb, sense. disc etc.
Is there transfer paper for inject printers or lazer, programs on the net for pro finshes?.
Any pointers on this subject would be handy.
    Many thanks in advance

search at igsl thread for posting of selim he linked a free version of front designer
i made my front panels in different ways

1 use glossy photo paper and print your front out then glue it on panel an cover it with clear adhesive tape fold it over the edges

2 print out at normal paper and laminate it then glue on front panel

3 print out mirrored with laser printer on clear foil then place double sided adhesive tape on panel and press the foil right sided on the tape

                  Front designer etc

Is the Front designer that Senmon posted fully loaded or the demo version with restricted libary
Looks just the ticket for are projects, far as using silver foil, which type? I presume kitchen type foil would be to thin to run through a laser printer.
Thanks to you all so far for the ideas so far im sure theres more to come, dont think this subject has been covered in any great depth in the past so tips and tricks from everyone should prove useful to all of us.
All ive used in the past is plastic lables on a basic lable printer which defunked ages ago, never looked that good anyway.
Tell you what, maybe worth trying laser print on glossy mags and then iron on as we do with pcbs, i dont know how it will take to alloy, anyone tryed? Of course no good for plastic due to melting.
                  Regards
                  Dave

You could also try LibreCAD. Works on Linux, Windows and Mac.
I've loaded the Linux version and it seems easy to use, and quite similar to AutoCAD.

                      Like the foil idea bernte
Is the foil you use kithen foil? also wondring if mylar would except laser print because if yes, then it would be a more durable surface and would give a nice finish to are projects, something else for me to try, ill let you know.
Thanks to everyone who contributed tips on this subject, lets hope theres some more.

                      Regards

For nice effects one might try one of the 3D foils. They come in sheets or rolls and look like the surface of a CD but with a pattern. use 3M double sided tape to hold it (roll stuff) to a sheet of paper for printing. Prep panel with 2nd print on plain paper, tape to panel to drill holes for controls, switches, then peel and stick art to panel. Clear spray to preserve art work. Just got my boards from Sven and will be trying this out for myself. Will post pics when done.
