    good info keep it coming

Ive seen commercial mono's with a paper sheet top and bottom sprayed in nickel.

With the graphited shell, the coil isnt wrapped in any conductive layers !

The coil turns can 'SEE' the ground surface.. Like this.

    Is this what you see..

I have graphited a shell on the inside.

I see about 20kohm / sq on the surface. used a few fine wires held in with silver loaded paint (for car heated windows)

If the shield is for static E field dissipation - it should be ok

Any other poeple taken stock coils apart?

Part of the problem is most of the space blankets use a vapor deposited layer that is only a few hundred atoms thick. Not much of a surface and the reason the resistance is not low. The clean copper wire wrap should work OK as it will give a large surface contact.
