  • First Compass Relic Magnum detectors...........

Now this is a short collections, starting with the very FIRST Compass "Relic Magnum" metal detector. That was its name, the second one, was the "Relic Magnum Professional" metal detector. I mentions both of those machines by a customer of them. Als mentions other Compass metal detectors. It tells what the particular customer or customers thought about the machines they either bought, or owned in the past. I like reading customer REVIEWS of metal detectors. I imagine some of you guys and gals like to read the reviews too... You know, time's change, and time also marches on, and next thing we know, those machines are gone from sale and gone sometimes from use. Some of us still have them stored in our house and/or basement areas. So for you people, who used them, perhaps still have them, here it is, some customers REVIEWS, not from today, but from long ago... This is so we can read and review them again today you see... Now its name is what I put on it years ago, Compass Detectors Relic Magnum, but it covers more then one Compass Electronics metal detector. Read it, and enjoy the PAST!! It's not going to come back again except here in GeoTech.Forum.......

Bob Sickler, Ahhhh, that is a name from my past. He was a writer as well, and he also did LOGO's artwork. He talks about finding an older GARRETT HOMBRE BFO metal detector. Now some of you guys and gals, might have owned one of them, or used one of them at least. Now there are quite a few nice photos of the past, some of machines, and some of finds, and I will tell you now, I ENHANCED ALL OF THOSE PHOTOS!!! Yep, did it in the past, when I took Bob Sicklers material of REMBERACES of the PAST, and collected it, and assembled it, into his story... Now it covers more then just an old Garrett BFO machine, it is a story of years ago, history if you will accept it as that. But it rings my bell you see. And it will definitely ring all or some of you people's bells too... It has some technical material in it as well. Oh it is interesting to read what people say or said in the past. Some passed away you see, some are still out there kicking and metal detecting. So thank you BobSickler, I really really loved reading this story you wrote back in time. This is brought back to like, here again in the GeoTech Forum, by myself, and for all of you guys and dolls. I know you all love metal detecting, and reading about the past, so download it and enjoy Bob's story... If you are still out there Bob, thanks for such a very neat story. I love reading it again and again and again. Oh Bob, knew Ron Mack, the main guy of the three guys, who owend Compass Electronics, and he was also a friend of Ron Mack. Now I knew Ron Mack myself, Ron came here, took me out to lunch, offered me the Colorado Distributor Ship of Compass metal detectors. Now I had to turn Ron down, he had a stipulation that I had to close up and get rid of my two very profitable real estate offices, and I could not do that, so I turned Ron Mack down that day. Otherwise I would have taken Ron up on his offer. I don't blame him, he wanted 100% of a persons time and devotion. I could do it pretty much, but I was the broker and owner of a company, and had two offices, and over a 100+ sales people, so could not do that at that time. Not going to go back in time now either, so download and read Bob's story. You will love it as much as I loved it myself. I am going to brag here now, those photos, are crystal clear, and are collectables just as much as Bob's story is a collectable..... Enjoy his story, and my enhancements of his photos...

I was UK distributor for Compass, and I have but one thing to say about them......RUBBISH.

The fraudsters who "took over" afterthe mysterious fire, spun a tale of BS about all sorts of problems. They STILL owe me $6000 as I had to return ALL the machines I bought as they had problems.

The phone number still rings and answerphone says "Compass Electronics" but the local Sherrif assure me he's been there and there are no electronics manufacturing or repair facilities there at all. He even got a warrant to search the property and found NOTHING.

yes, Sean Goddard, I am familiar with your story. What happened to you, happened to others, and other then reading about yourself, and others, I was not involved with them. There is a little I am familiar with, and I sympathize with you. All I can say, is what you already know, the Statute of Limitations, on the federal level of course, has expired. I am not familiar with them for the states of Oregon and Washington, but they are most likely also expired. All I can say is, originally from the past, had a federal expiration date of 6 years maximum. At that time, I was no longer active in the sales of metal detectors. I too, have been cheated by scammers, but not by the same ones that cheated yourself. However i was not cheated on the same models you were cheated on.

I am amazed that the phone is still active! Someone has to be paying for phone service, and someone has to be paying the rent, of course. but being of sound mind, you already know that of course. I used to be a federal law officer, but with the U.S. Dept of the Interior, specifically the National Park Service, and I have no answers for what is going on. And yes, it is RUBBISH.

I think as I recall you were involved with Steve Goss, who had little to no money to operate. He tried to establish a dealerships in Europe, and he began operating, then his wife as I read, came down with cancer, and two of them vanished, and Phil Milton, now has resurrected Compass Electronics Corporation, but I doubt he knows where they are either. He filed for the Corporation, and for the trademark image, but there was a problem with the filing, and so he does not have much to go on other than the corporation he created in the old name of the Compass outfit. I will not judge him, but I myself, would not have done it, as it could bring legal problems for him over the assumption he owns the original Compass Electronics old name and business... I do not think FRAUD fades into oblivium though, but the debts might have faded as far as lawsuits. But fraud is fraud...

Federal law, expired with a maximum of 6 years, and beyond that, one cannot really do very much. At least I could not in the past. As I recall reading, I think you did take legal action, but today, all you have to go on is fraud I believe. The Compass machines in question were the Coin Scan II units ,that Steve Goss ran out of service parts. But mine never came from Steve Goss. I heard he managed to fix a very few of them, the rest were all missing some parts. I got several of them myself, just sitting there not working. I do have a factory Compass Electronics schematic in case you do not have one. But that is about all I have about the unit. If you have any service material on the units, I would trade my factory service schematic, for your service material. Mine is enhanced by myself. But you most likely, already possess the Compass factory schematic??? But since you no longer possess the Coin Scan II, a trade is not very likely... I have not tried to fix any of them myself, because I lack service materials. Got any?

I also did enhance the factory Operating Manual in 2017, and it is a work of art. But being of sound mind, I never printed any copies! I put a Copyright on it because I enhanced the artwork to perfection. I did it, in case I got one working, but so far, none work at all. Some parts are missing. I do have a copy of Test_70, in .PDF format, and in recognition of your post, I am going to post it for others to read. Maybe after reading it, someone will post a clue to the where abouts of the culprits??? I am afraid that is the limit of what I can do Sean Goddard. So was your problem with the Pakistani and/or Steve Goss, or both of them???

and I have this story... I have stored somewhere, a one page story of Sean Goddard story. Was going to post it, but not sure where i have it right now...Ahhhh! The one page sheet, is from the 4 pages Test_70.Pdf file, so I got it after all! I do not have PDF software, or I would open it up and read it. I will take the file to my older computer, it has PDF software in it that I can use, and I will update my mind on your story tomorrow, Sean Goddard...

Okay Sean Goddard, I read AGAIN, the Test_70.Pdf file, in my other computer, which has PDF software. Each time I read it, I want to repair a bunch of Coin Scan II defective metal detectors. Why? Because I still love Compass metal detectors that is why... And that is why, when you used to phone Compass at their number, the phone was still operating, and it is why Compass, while not building any new detectors, is still breathing....

On the testing of your WORKING unit, of which I have around 6 of them and not one of them is working. But tests in Europe, were fantastic as Europe is far older than America you see.

Click image for larger version Name:	Coin Pro II_1200dpi.jpg Views:	0 Size:	762.4 KB ID:	420930 Okay, got KT315 photos, large size, lots of pixels in the photo, will put it in as large photo, so one can see each part and that part number as well. I also enhanced the photo for extreme clarity. Is 11x17 size, but for the forum, have to post it smaller in size, but can print it larger you see... Okay, too large for forum, had to upload smaller size. Managed to stick in Large size, the larger sized one, it was too large for the forum, so tried the next large size, and it loaded. this particular post, is done right now... Too large for forum, ended up with sticking in Medium enhanced size. Sorry, but that is the way the cookie crumbles sometimes! Download it, take it to a computer store, they can print it out onto a 24 inch wide sheet of paper. You see, I do things in a big way myself.

Carl, it is in your hands now, each photo will print out in a size of 24 inch sheets, or smaller. I like them large, I can take them into town, the computer stores have large format sized printers, and I pay $4.00+ per photo size.
If too big for the forum, reduce them as you please Carl. I have NO adjustments settings sheets Carl. This forum is the only place I have ever attempted to upload these sized photos Carl. You have ONE of a KIND here...One can compare them to units missing the parts per KT315 photos... Thanks KT315, you are in my thoughts....... Anyone who sees a replacement part that will go into the unit, post it and I will appreciate it.

And reviewing the files in my folder, here is the Doc file, not in PDF you see, it has photos in it and had other information on both GeorgePaynes Coin Scanner Pro and Steve Goss's Coin Scan II version. Both are very rare units
in working condition, if you build one, you can build the second one very easily... Now what Sean Goddard ended up with was RUBBISH, but with what you end up with, is up to you!!! If you do it right, it will not be RUBBISH!

Okay, I tried to upload the .doc file, it exceeds the LIMITS of uploading size. So cannot send it. You can email me, and I can email it to you, but other then than, NO DOC file is here... Now maybe Carl, I can email to him and he can stick it into this area??? Lets see what Carl says, okay????????

I have no zipping software, in either of my two computers. And on PDF software, only my older computer has the PDF software. So my work philosophy is if it does not work, I do not try it anymore. You see, I live within a forest area, and have an old telephone line into my house, and it has limited me for years.Where I live, is peaceful, and I am not inside the normal world here where I live. In order to do what I do, I have to use old computers. Now I could buy and use newer computers, but then all of the software, which I use, will not operate. Do not blame me, blame it on Microsoft. If it will not work, or not run, I roll with the punches and move on. That is how I live. That is how I have lived since 1988. Both of my computers do not have lots of memory you see.

I will explain. My wife uses a cell phone, I have two old telephones for my use. One is for one of my computers, the other one does not have any connection to the telephone. I am old, set in my ways, and I do not change. So I do not worry about anything or anyone. Everything operates like it does, that which does not operate or refuses, I say "Okay, I will go with you and do what you do". I have no cell phone myself, I do not print anything myself, I take it in to a business, and get it printed. I hit the button, it if refuses, I say "Okay"! There is not another person like me, the ones who were like me, are all deceased now. I have a Windows 7 with internet access. It has dial up in it, but I dial up into my wifes cell phone software and use it that way. If I don't, I have no internet. Pondco stands for TALL PONDEROSA FORREST! The other computer is a Windows XP. I can do what I do with those two computers, and if they refuse, I do with what they do and I refuse when they refuse.

And that is how I am... I exist this way. So if it will not go in, there is no way it is going to be there then. And I can live with that decision. I have bears, mountain lions, bobcats, badgers, deer, and elk, and we all exist where I live. Now them come and go, but beyond my house, they eat and are not killed. Take a look at where I live. I am on a piece of an 1868 Ranch and that is my neighbor! The owner, lives in Wyoming. So I am very isolated. Does it bother me? No it does not bother me. It does bother my wife, who is 12 years younger then myself, but she has adapted to my ways. Even the kids, and grandkids have adapted to my ways. I drive into town once ever two weeks. I drive the speed limit, and the cars either pass me or stack up behind me. My newest vehicle is a 1989 Buick Riveria, the oldest is an 1970 Chevy pickup. When they break down, I phone a friend, he drives out here and fixes them on my land. My wifes friends say, "So that is how you look"! So when I post something, it is lucky to get out of my house alive... I had to put both photos in front of the typing to get it into the posting. The computer was stubborn, so I said "You win", and I move on with my life... But at least it posted you see!!!!!!!! So if you see errors, I will post it as is if I cannot get it to change. I do not argue with it anymore! As it shows up on the screen, in it goes.........I try, but the computers always win!!!
