That is a great old detector...since it sports the CrossFire coil it is actually the ADS 7X....from your Pic it does Not seem to be marked as the 7X?? not sure why that is the case??....at the time that these were being made I called Garrett and was told that the 7X was the same as the (made for Kellyco) 10X...only difference is that the 10X comes with the Hot Head 10 inch coil........the ADS 7 uses the old co-planar coils!....Joe

I used one just like it for years! Loaned it to a friend and lost it in his house fire Man I dug a lot of stuff with it! Biggest problem is the weight and buying batteries. It, just like the 5000D Whites, and the Fisher 1260X has another flaw. You need a back hoe they can go so deep

Garrett Master hunter ADS 6 or 7

Hi regarding this model ADS7 or similar earlier models up to the ADS3 is they have a flaw and that is the small Black module
mounted with two screws in the box separate from the board and joined by wires to the circuit board and when they play up
Most of the Modules are covered in solid black resin witch makes it impossible to repair the electronics that fail on it
I have a model ADS 6 and ADS7 and the ADS 6 is in need of the part mention no longer made or available and still looking for one
I might have to make one by melting the resin out like I have done but of course you ruin most of the board
Here are some pics of the part and my ADS7 If any one has any detector not wanted that I can get the part or help Thanks
