How about registering? Then you can send a private message to Carl.

Yes, I have been swamped the last 2 weeks... your boards were shipped last week, Friday I think but don't see the receipt right now. Forgot to email you, sorry.

            Solder choice

I have been meaning to post this info for sometime. Most of you know your solder alloys. 60/40 used to be the standard. 60/40 indicates 60% lead and 40% tin.

60/40 is very popular, but not the best solder alloy for printed circuit boards. When melting, it has what is called a "plastic range" where it is neither liquid or solid, but a grainy, semi-melted solder that can produce poor quality solder joints or even "cold solder joints".

I recommend alloy 63/37 which is available at places like Radioshack and other electronic suppliers. This alloy has no plastic region when melting and flows very nicely producing bright shiny solder joints. It even flows thruogh two sided boards and produces a nice finish on the opposite side of the board.

If you use it, your boards will be beautiful and free from cold-joints. It also improves the quality of your finished PC board.
