    back to the drawing board..

    Hi Ivconic and aft_72005
With first PCB I had problems with parasitic oscillations, I solved problem with lots of small bypass caps but this is not an elegant solution. I do not recommend ANY of the above to be repeated. New discrimination mode also proved to be not a good idea.
I'm working on new TSS+ board and it is almost finished. All workable mods will be optional.
For what is it worth TSS+ is best pinpointing device I have seen, with small coil it is absolutely one of the best MDs for junk infested sites.
    Check also this test:

      Hi Leto
Are you finished new drawing for TSS.
      Best regards.

The 1st PCB in dxf of Leto have bugs !!
          1-The rx coil gnd
          2-The s. pin of Bf245 is connects !!!

All metal is ok, no disc mode !!!

            BUMP!!!

Leto, did you ever finish this project??

I was looking again at the stabilised oscillator, change the 100K resistor on the gate of the FET to ground for a 100K pot in SERIES witha 47K resistor, you can now tweak the drive for the coil you are using. I've found this gives a little more amplitude to the TW, and if you drive the TX directly from the battery, then you get a nice BIG outpuit (like the Tejon), BUT you need to drop the level of the signal going into the zero xing circuits (393's) or they will "foldback" and all you get is lots of beeping.

Just thought I'd revive this as I've just spotted a trend on this forum and it's driving me NUTS.. There are far too many projects started and not taken to any working conclusion. This must be VERY frustrating for some of the beginners who come here wanting to build a machine, but finding nothing they can use.

Maybe if some of these projects were fully working the designer can package up the whole thing in PDF or EAGLE (NO excuses people it's FREE to download) and "publish" it here then we might have more people here and thus MORE projects.....etc. etc..

              Sean,

I think you are correct, a newbie looking for a first time project would be a little frustrated after coming here. The biggest issue for me is not being able to buy circuit boards. I gave up trying to make my own about 20 years ago and have no desire to try again. Another possibly daunting task is building coils. Not a problem for me, but I can see how it would stop someone. If only there were a source of pre-built PCBs and coils, I think there would be more active members here.

There are several robotics hobbyist websites (non profit) where you can buy all the parts you need, including complete kits.

Hi! I have finded mistake in 1st PCB too.

                  SS torture

                  Hi to all..

Yes 1st PCB has several mistakes - sorry for that.
I had to cut some tracks and add 4 wires on copperside
again: I do not recommend ANY of the above to be repeated.
Now I'm going back to original Tesoro design - here is the remake.
No time to test the device.. it's just sitting there, waiting...

Please publish the original design ?

                      Goood

Very good project! Test in air in disc mode, copper coin from 2cm to 30 cm with coil DD from 27 cms !!!
                      Goog discrimination .

Leto, can you do as I suggested please and package the whole of the working S.Sabre as an Eagle file (or whatever).

If people WANT to build this them I'm happy to have some PCB's PROFESSIONALLY made (double sided if needed) with silk screen etc and sell them AT COST to people on this forum. I don't think Tesoro could complain about this, but the PCB's would have to be your OWN work, not just a direct copy or there would be copyright issues .

I'm sure someone would be wiling to make coils in the same way hint, HINT) but this lack of "do-able" projects is really becoming frustrating.

                          SS+

I have used the file dxf (SS+.zip) of Leto.
I have corrected only small errors and it works very well. It is simple all it takes is cutting two steps (BF245-BF245 surce is conest, cut !!! and cut RX coil GND) and connect -5V LF393s and LM353 (pin4) and +5V LM393s (pin.

                          Good job.

                            Hi Leto,
Is it possible to post a higher resolution image (gif, png, bmp) of the PCB for Silver Sabre? I know you posted the .dxf files, but I can't use them. I want to build one as well.

                            Regards,
                            Nicolae
