I use Kinetix 104 resin with the 130 fast hardener simply because I have it left over from my board repairing days. This particular resin has a 2:1 mix ratio
I have used it to glass the outside of several 3DSS coils by wrapping them with woven fg cloth and have poured it into pvc conduit shells holding bundle wound mono coils as in the photo. In small quantities the exotherming is not a problem if a thin layer is used first to fix the coil into the bottom of the shell using clothes pegs to hold it down in place. Once this sets I top it up and cover the coil with a mix of the resin and chopped strand glass for added strength.

UV cure catalyst is great for laminating with glass fibre but has limitations for pouring around coils as the UV must be able to reach all parts to cure. Thicker layers, shading of areas under the coil and the addition of fillers can prevent all of the resin from curing. Also, it is only suitable for use with polyester resin and will still cause polystyrene foam to dissolve. As far as I know, there is not an effective UV hardener for epoxy resin yet available.

Resin mixed with micro bubbles always have difficulty keeping the perfect null. What I show is extremely lightweight and strong, does not crack. Just squeeze out of tube directly into the coil shell, comes out of tube like toothpaste, dries hard like concrete, light as balsa wood. Then once dried, apply coat of varnish if you want or better yet, truck bed coating to resist scuffing and be waterproof.

        Hello dbanner

How to make the polystyrene foam level tight?
How can it be hit and tense?
