Is there an adjustable search-coil available , or does anything exist on the market???
1.We know some coils have a resonant operating frequency
2. Coils have a null point
3.Coils have a dc resistance
4.they are classified by the number of tx or rx windings and how the windings are configured
5.Some are shielded
6.Pin-configurations of the plug are different.
7. Most coils have fixed and finalized parameters , then are sealed/glued and shiped out of the factory.
The reason I am writing this is I was told the "omega coil" could be one of the best.
I am not an expert on coils but say that you own 2 metal detectors , one has a frequency of 5 khz and the other operates at 20 khz. Can a single omega coil be built with a control switch on the housing so that it can be optimzed for either one of the two different detectors ??? Having a switch on the top of the search-coil going to a small circuit in the coil-housing is not a problem. Then you can easily make a plug adapter to adapt between detector models. Hays in the U.S. still makes a ton of different plastic housings at a good price. In the meantime I will just have to use "one coil" for each type of Detector I have. So I hope to hear more about this "Omega coil" , and if it is the Best ??? And if my Idea of a "Universal Search Coil" will work?....I re-posted these photos from another member/thread on this forum.....Thank-You..........Eugene
