  • Induction Balance coil

I need to build a 3" to 4" for savo electronics ltd (whites uk in the 1980's) treasuremaster ib/tr detector. So where do I start????. The unit has a coil conector not unlike the modern whites units and has 5 wires connested to a 6 pin plug, colors are 1 blue 2 yellow 3 brown 4 grey 5 and 6(center pin)black connested to both. It this the way current whites coils are connected. Can any one help with this project.

      Re: Induction Balance coil

White's detectors use 5 wires on a 5-pin plug, colors vary. I suspect no one is familiar with a "Savo", which is why you got no replies. IB coils are hard to build & align, and you need to know existing coil parameters & internal components to make a new one compatible. You might end up having to effectively destroy an existing coil to get the info you need.

        On the other hand...

...email White's, and ask them about the pinout. There's a very good chance that the Savo design uses coils that are entirely compatible with other White's TR models, if the connector is swapped out. If so, a 4" TR coil would be cheap. And much easier than making one.

Savo was just another name for Whites..

...in fact after further research, I have found that the savo is is very similar to whihes existing Beachcomber range of detectors, so I have decided to try a BM350 coil, All I have to find out what wires go where.
