  • Voltage or Amps

Just wanted to get peoples opinion on Voltage or Amps to drive a coil.

    Eg:

Is it best to have higher Voltage & little Amps or lower Voltage & high Amps or does it make no difference as long as the total Watts consumed are the same?.
An explanation of why one may be better than the other would be helpfull also.

    Thanks

    Ampere-turns are all that matter.

Coil field strength is determined by the peak coil current and coil inductance (and coil time constant=L/R). ML use low resistance coils to generate high peak coil currents at whatever voltage they use for the short or long Tx pulses. For short TX pulse they use higher voltages and for the longer TX lower voltages- the so called DVT in the gpx series.
