  • Spice simulator

As I've mentioned before on the forums, I use "Easy-PC" for schematics & PCB layout. I just broke down and bought the Spice add-on for it... $527 USD. After a weekend working with I can say it is worth every cent.

After running the installation, a simulation menu magically appeared in the schematic window, and everything was working fine... no twiddling or fidgeting to get things going. The interface is done nicely, the waveform plots are well-implemented, and everything is super-easy to control.

I've been using it to run sims on a super-low-power PI transmit circuit for a special project I'm working on. Having been without a Spice simulator for 2-1/2 years it's refreshing to be able to run sims again, and see in detail what all is going on (especially with currents) and to quickly try out what-if circuits. Hopefully everything with be close to optimal before I ever build the circuit.
