  • oscilloscope probes

    Hi,

I just picked up a used 20MHz oscilloscope and I was wondering if I need to get specific probes, or can I use 100MHz probes on it without worrying about matching issues ?

Are them rated for the input safe voltage level of scope ? Are them working ?

If so... use them. No problems.

Fact that them can handle 100Mhz signals means they don't introduce too e.g. attenuation at that frequency... not that you cannot use at lower freq.

    Kind regards,

      Thanks,

The scope came with some non-adjustable probes and was looking at buying some decent ones, but didn't know if I had to worry about compatability.

      Cheers,

      Brad.

        100MHz probes should be fine.

If you can't use a generic 100 Mhz probe from ebay, then here is an article that shows how to make a scope probe cheap that's good up to 1 Ghz: http://www.emcesd.com/1ghzprob.htm#Topofpage

            Best wishes,
