Scenario #1 - Sam Scafferi's will bury his Mason jar of silver coins on a 1-acre junk yard... see if your mags can pick it up if he buries it just one inch below the surface.
Scenario #2 - Sam Scafferi's will bury his Mason jar of silver coins on a 1-acre farm... see if your mags can pick it up if he buries it just one inch below the surface.
Scenario #3 - Sam Scafferi's will bury his Mason jar of silver coins on a 1-acre heavily forested with heavy underbrush, briars, and brambles... see if your mags can pick it up if he buries it just one inch below the surface.
Scenario #4 - Sam Scafferi's will bury his Mason jar of silver coins on a stretch of Gulf Beach... see if your mags can pick it up if he buries it just one inch below the surface.

Oops! Did I tell you that both Sam and Carl require anyone wanting to trot out to each of these scenarios to take two PROPER tests:

#1: Pass the jar of silver coins past you mag (air test)... if it registers then you are qualified for the Treasure Hunt if you past the next test.
#2: Place the jar of silver coins under just one of 10 paper plates in any field. The other nine paper plates may or may not cover metals. You must then be subjected to a qualified DOUBLE-BLIND TEST by certified scientific testors. If you can find the jar of silver coins in 6 out of 10 attempts then you are better than RANDOM CHANCE, and you now qualify to go into each of these scenarios with your wiz-bang contraptions.

    Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Sorry but...

    ...mags won't detect silver.

      Mags won't detect silver, but.....

..... long range locators will detect silver as well as magnetic anomalies.

Mags cannot be used in a junkyard, farmyarm, beaches, woods with high underbrush, briars, and bramble; mags cannot be used along strung fence lines for post hole treasures; BUT LONG RANGE LOCATORS CAN.

WHAT EXACTLY IS THE MAIN FUNCTIONALITY IN LIFE FOR A MAG, CARL?

Re: Mags won't detect silver, but.....

Mags can't be used in junkyards, but can be used everywhere else you mentioned. And they will outperform an LRL every time, when used for what they are designed for.

          Re: Sorry but...

My cousin is a licensed Land Surveyor.
He uses flux-gate Magnetometers manufactured by Schonstedt and Chicago Steel Tape to detect buried 'monuments' from previous surveys. These 'monuments' are often 3/8" steel rebar, about 1-foot in length, pounded into the ground and covered with a plastic cap. Depending on how much time has past since the monument was placed, it can be covered with soil, leaves, brambles or any number of things. He also tells me he does not seem to have any real problems near fences or near high-voltage power lines.

Just my 2 cents for a real-life application of wanting to find ferrous metals vice precious metals.
