  • Tesoro Wolftrax repair possibility or not ?

    Hi,

I have found a tesoro wolftrax control box(only), on second hand website.
I'ts very interessant for the price.

    Before buying, The problem is the next;

The seller reversed the polarity of the batteries and there are probably some components to change.

In your opinion, what are these components? It's minimal?

    Thank's

    Greetings

First you have to change your batterie wires. I have marked them in your picture with red circles. The red wire is Bat- and the green Bat+. Some pictures from my lobo.
The cap in the turkis(blue) circle looks poped up, you have to replace it.

I think the wolftrax has a changed sound in comparison to the Lobo ST. Have heard a mod should be possible similar to the cibola. But i don´t have made it and have no instructions.

I have found one mod on Pentechnic website :

Lobo SuperTRAQ & WolfTRAX Audio Upgrade
Both of these machines feature a variable audio tone when a target is detected (VCO).
Often described as "sounding like a strangled duck" we can modify your machine to operate
with a single tone which sounds similar to a Laser B3

I don´t find something about this mod. We need a schematic of the lobo ST and a occupancy of the internal trimmers.

Check the supplies on the Op-Amps BEFORE you do ANYTHING!

I'll lay odds that the 7660 voltage inverter IC is the problem. Common problem on any Tesoro which has had batteries connected the wrong way around. Especially great as Tesoro do not include any reverse voltage protection on any of their machines. That said Tesoro make AWESOME machines, none too deep, but they deliver the goods again and again!

Hi I had a mate who burnt two lobos out. Both times I changed the low drop out 7805 regulator and smd lm392 close to the 7555 timer ic and they both still going strong.
