I STRONGLY suggest you lve well alone and seek the help of Pulsar Electronics or another such pro repairer. Most likely you will kill the machine totally if u try 2 fix it u r self. Other than that, SS2 is same cct as SS1 or near as danm it
Steve being a qualified design engineer, and, having designed and manufactured detectors since 1975, I think he is qualified to repair his mothers detector. Take the point though, inexperienced people should not dig inside their detector, Steve also has extensive BGA placement and rework experience. SMT expert.
No. I would say that is not normal. I have a Silver Sabre II also. There is a schematic posted on this site and I can make some comparison measurements if needed.
hi Alain. can you share pics of your board inside from both sides at sunny day hi-dif? can you measure inductivity of your coil? silver sabre II schematic is not. there are SS plus and SS schematics. I will be able to tell you more if you give the pics.

thanks for yours answers, I will photograph the electronic circuit and verify inductances... and I'll post it...
The PCB in your pictures is from a later "hybrid" version. It has that large surface mount PCB in the center. The Silver Sabre II I drew the schematic from has no surface mount components. The schematic is probably very close to correct even with the layout differences.
