    You need a 3900 coil

If I can assume that the 3900 transmit circuit is correctly represented in the schematic on top of page 1, then it is absolutley imperative that any search coil connected at "TX" has a large amount of parallel capacitance, because otherwise, Q1 turns off quickly and a flyback pulse from the coil creates a high voltage spike. My guess is that it happens so quickly that you will never know what happened. From this, I have to deduct that the original 3900 used a tuned transmit coil.

Here is a picture of simulation results using a plain old 6.65mH coil that I arbitrarily selected, because I don't know any better. This coil has relatively small parasitic capacitance across it, but not enough to cause the coil to resonate anywhere near 6.59kHz. I don't have a clue how the original coil was made, and so this could represent what might happens if I tried to use, lets say for instance, a Tesoro coil, in this circuit. Yes, that's 450volts being created. I doubt that there would be more than one pulses.

I guess the bottom line is be careful if you con't have a coil designed expressly for Whites 3900 or similar model.

hi Geo. try it. I certainly can not guarantee that now all are absoliutely right. I think it is near to what really must be in.

        Hi KT315.
Thanks for the modifying schematic but i am not interesting to construct it. For me is a low efficiency detector so i have not time to spend with it. Ivconic is interesting to make a simple detector so he can modify the his pcb as your schematic
        Anyway Regards

          Why not....

Why not? Only have to finish few already started projects....I think i'll correct those on my pcb in next few months and test it.....
          See ya...

This schematic have many fakes , i have seen original pcb, c1 and c7 are electrolyts , here on schematic isnt, here is a proof, there is many other mistakes, but i have spoted this for a short time which i had

Look my post above, i had made a photo of part a board 3900, c1 and c7 are electrolytic condensators! , on schematic its ordinary condensators...that is just a part of mistakes...

                    Hi
Our friends cloned succesfully this machine on above links.
but only working original whites coils. Not working hadmade coils.
if intersted you can find all infos on above linls on teknolojiekibi.com

I'l have checked and compared original 3900 board and Turkish, all parts are ok, I will try to redraw schematic with help of Turkish board!
                      Well done!!!

                            White's 3900 schematic again

I read the new posting this morning .So I have been researching today and it seems the depth test I found for the 3900 had results almost identical to a Classic II , both were using the whites standard 8 inch coil. Is the 3900 D/Pro I pictured here using one of the classic Boards??? It seemed like Whites had a habbit of using a "505" board for many differerent models. Were they saving money on pcb board manufacturing ??? I wish someone will post the full circuit board picture of CM 3900 so we will know exactly what's up. Was the 3900 a classic board or similar to a series 2 or series 3 circuit board ??? And I thought there was a CM 3900 in a "Blue case" model before they changed everything to the "Black Cases" ??..............Eugene
