  • My bad - I said Surf pi 2 I meant 1.2

    • Hello
I have read on your forum your link to the plummeting functionality of the Surf 1.2 detector. I am from the Czech Republic, we bought a board on Ebay, built a detector but it is very bad. It has a small depth range and when zooming to the metal does not amplify the signal, and about 3cm from the target with the signal will lose.
I do not have much knowledge in this area, but unfortunately, nobody has told me what I should do. Measurements on integrated circuits and transistor voltage are correct,
The coil should also be good. The only part that is replaced is MPA13.mam instead of MPSA14 because I did not reach it. May I ask you Would you please me
I can not advise anyone who would have an oscilloscope. I'm sorry to bother you but look for advice as it goes. English is probably too bad, I translate it with a computer. Thank you
      Talužek

      • Find the scheme and make SBG-PI. You will be pleased.

          • maybe we can adapt the pcb layout from sascho to sprint layout
it would better for diy than a bad Quality pcb picture

            • Yes. Work perfectly. Change R9 to 2 k.

              • Hi,

The dumping resistor (about 390 R/1W) is critical.

                • Hello colleagues.
My most common surf. Nothing special, but it works well.
I mainly search with a detector on the sea in a diving suit, I walk a maximum in the throat, sometimes on lakes.
All videos in Russian. But you can see pictures.

                    • Good evening.
Looking at the parts list i did not see the voltages of the polyester capacitors. I know that the power is only 12 volts but i gues the coil circuit must be susteining higher voltages, right? Is 63 volts enough?
                      Thanks

I do not see ANY caps in the High Voltage (coil kick-back) part of the circuit. So all of these caps are in low Voltage circuits (12V) so 63V rating is good.

                        • Thanks, noted, so even lower voltage will do.

                          • One more question with the same capacitors in mind. I hope it is ok to use all the capacitors from the smaller tolerance PStack 5% type instead of 10%Pfilm but not the vice versa? When i was involved in the HAM radio i remember that 5% tolerance of any component is all right but in this particular case i do not like to land with not working device. Also for the resistors the tolerance given is it for their stability on temperature or just manufacturing tolerance? Thanks.

                            • Yes, even lower Voltage ratings are ok. I use 25 & 50V caps.

For most of the caps higher tolerance is not a problem. However, the caps in the Integrator (C5 & C6) should be matched to the same value as best you can. This also includes the 4 resistors, R13-R14, R15-R16 pairs. Exact values are not critical but same value in each pair is. Only these 6 parts need to be matched all other parts are not critical and remember that there are adjustment pots which negate the need for tight tolerance parts.

                              • Thanks, noted. Just receive the boards from Lituania. Checking them reveal matching of the exact version 1.2. Quality is good, let's see when i get all assembled what will be the final result ;-). Will update you here.
