  • Listening to MD-signals and super loud music at the same time

After many hours of tinkering today I was successful
to get the 2in1 high-quality and loud audio-mix to work.

Without amp and just joining the audio-cables together,
having a good time with loud music is not possible.
The MD signals would get lost.

Not so with an amplifier and some special circuit!
Now it's Rock'n Roll! More infos soon!

On instagram and facebook are many nice and new pix
but this brand new drawing shows a very useful new invention!

The audio-output from some MDs seems to be pretty "strange".

Either that or my active-speaker acts crazy, but with all other
audio-devices it works very well - so where's the gremlins ?!

Perhaps someone here can tell me exactly whats going on
with this MD audio, which caused me already alot headache
when I tried to built an external audio-vibration-circuit.

Because: the ground from the MDs audio has to be cut-off,
the audio from the Garrett Euro-Ace is already very loud if
the 500k resistor is set to 500k and while using it with the
Blisstool, the Makro Racer and the DeepHunter, the plug
has to kept 5mm from put completly in (in this position
the MD has still audio-output but also the cable has it!)

By the way I have tested it the usually working way and it does not work!
    - connecting all 3 lines as it normally should be
    - using a resistor at the ground-connection to reduce volume as it normally should be
    - pluging the 6,3mm completly into the jack - again: as it normally should be...

The connection cable should be around 1 meter in lenght.
For the Garrett Ace models even 1,20m (4 ft.) would be good,
because the MDs audio-plug is pretty far away from the body.

It should be a thick but very flexible gum-cable with "unbreakable"
helix-wire inside. Check out the makro-view below. I did use a lighter
to melt the gum away (this way the wire can get pulled out very easy)
and afterwards to burn away the isolation-coating for soldering.

For protection bend over ca. 2cm of the soldering-cable-region
for 180° and fix it to secure the spot where those very thin
wires are soldered together with some stronger cable.

Attached some pic to show the not fully plugged in 6,3mm connector.

To find the correct distance is no problem because the plug will half
snap in at that position and so also has some hold to remain there.

Depending on how loud you listen to the music I recommend
that you use rather high sensitivity settings with a good amount
of background noise. It will not disturb you, because it will be
      predominated by the music.

Listening to audio-books while searching might be different.
I haven't tested this so far but perhaps I will also listen to
funny comedy- etc. programs while hunting to make the
whole search- n digging-work even more pleasant!

A cool idea came into my mind:

If there would exists an audio version of the "Inside The Metal Detector" book
the interested persons could listen to it directly while using their MDs!

This new 2in1 method also is perfect for audio-manuals:
While the technical details gets explained, someone directly can try them.

Here you can see the final version of this special audio-connector - now incl. mini-rain-cape!

Because if you have the mp3-player or smartphone in short-arm shirt pocket and it starts
to rain you ABSOLUTLY need no water that runs down the cable and penetrates the variable resistor!

Adjusting this poti of course still is the same easy as before.

If you create or planning something its no mistake to think useful a bit ahead.
