I was curious if any of the members have a good replacement for IC-8 op amp. Carl mention that a J-Fet op amp has leakage current, and a CMOS type IC would be a better choice. I have TL072's but I would like a part number for a better replacement component. Thank you for the use of the board. Best to all Jim

For a simple design like the HH, the integrator amp isn't a limiting factor. The TL072 works as well as anything, is easy to get, and dirt cheap. As you push the rest of the design closer to the bleeding edge, then it might be time to consider a better opamp. Areas for improvement might be lower power, better output swing, faster slew, lower IB (esp if you want to run a much lower frequency), and lower temp drift. But you have a long way to go on the rest of the design before any of this will make a difference.

tle2072, has lower noise and uses less power, and is pin-pin compatible but as carl said you have work to do to the rest of the circuit before you see any benefit.
though since carl designed it with a learning angle as well as being a good functioning detector your question is valid, if you don't ask you don't get.
