    Felezjoo arrived but even with new alkaline aa 8 cell pack (12.4v) it shows low battery and goes bleurg bluerg every 5 seconds whats the crack it detects on the screen showing ferrous non etc but no audio tones except bluerg bluerg.

    It work on 18V not 12V

      fug not sure i can do 18v but most the caps on the board rated at 16v so had to assume it would not be more?

        The circuit has a 78L12 regulator which supplies circuit with 12 volts, that's why your caps are rated 16v. Battery must be higher than 12 volts(18volts is good)

            Trick is to replace R19 with 13k resistor and that's how code in Atmega is fooled to accept 12V supply without any problems.

                  78L12 require at last by 2volt higher supply, otherwise you get less than 12v on output... It mean anything over 14v is ok.

                    thanks for the replies guys i might get a bit more run time with 18650's so will give it a try also at least till the 12 aa holders get here
