  • what's my next step

Hi again from new member, I have been using my Garrett GTI 2500 for several years now with a few good finds ( rings , bracelets, coins) any ideas on what's my next step. I want to be able to search above and below ground on homesteads.cover more area faster and deeper. For this I have looked at ground penetrating locators like Scanmaster 1550 Quad, Pro11 series gold cross,Ground Penetrating locators (GPL V111), Accumeter Super Pro XV , to a lesser degree Lorenz and Pulse star pulse induction detectors , 2-Box Deep Search metal detectors and even Mineoro. Imagers by Accurate Locators and the XKP 5000 by OKM Ortungstechnik are interesting . I have talked to shippers , dealers and sales people from the likes of Kellyco . Any suggestions will be appreciated , am I on the right track, which one or two pieces of equipment should I buy or not buy. Am I on the wrong track all together, is there new technology I should be looking at. Any of your thoughts , experiences , opinions and knowledge will help......................Thanks Randy

The Scanmasters (all of them), Gold Cross, and LRL500 are dowsing rod devices, and are completely useless. I have a $25,000 prize available to anyone who wishes to show me one that really works.

The Kellyco GPLs, Accumeters, and Fitzgerald MLL are all simple resistivity meters of a 1960's design, and are all grossly overpriced. You can build one very easily for less than $100. You can build a phenomenally better resistivity meter for a little more.

I've not heard much positive news about the various "imager" -type locators, but I've never used one either. Ask for 3 or more references, and call them all for feedback. I've personally tested a Mineoro PDC205 and found that it did not work, though others (even on this forum) claim it does. My $25,000 is available for a successful demonstration.

You can get a 2-box attachment for the GTI2500. I have one, but wasn't all that impressed. I think a dedicated 2-box is better, the TF900 and TM808 being probably the best. A large coil PI is good for cache hunting.

    P.S. -- In general, I avoid Kellyco. They're a rather seedy outfit.

Carl , thanks for the reply I'm coping down the information on the TF -900 and TM808 so I can look them up. The imagers are pricy , but worth looking into if they work like they say. One last note on LRL I know they sound to good to be true , but I would entertain buying one if it was able to get me within 50 feet of a target from a long distance ??.....In can see that I need to do more home work and not believe everything I read about a product on the Kellyco website.....................Randy

Are you looking to buy a powerful Pulse Induction detector at an affordable price?

I'm going to look into the TF-900 and TM 808 , but I would like to get a good resistivity meter similar to the accumeter super pro XV, ....................Randy
