    This is more of a point of interest question rather than a plan to sell detectors.

    If I where to sell a PI detector an issue would be patent US4276484 with regards the coil for example. What would this cost to resolve this, a fixed price / percentage?

    Would EP0790507 (Lockable coil pivot) be upheld if challenged, isn’t this general knowledge or a common application.

    Is there a problem with some of the files here is is it me, US6636044 and US6653838 report that there is 'insufficient data to generate an image' when opened with acrobat.

      This patent is expired. Older patents were valid for 18 years, newer ones 20 years... not sure when the length increased.

      Generally, the cost to use of patented technology depends entirely on the patent holder... they may want a percentage, a one-time fee, or they may just say "no way."

      I haven't seen this particular lock design, so it might be sufficiently unique. You would need to find prior art (documented, or just an implementation) that is roughly the same, in order to have the patent invalidated.

      Yes, a number of PDFs have "gone bad", I don't know why. I've now replaced them.
