  • Tesoro Tejon opinions

hi i often look on here to find out what your opinions are on different detectors, and find them a lot more objective than most other forums ,which seem to be more brand orientated. What i would like to know is what are your thoughts on the Tesoro tejon compared to other high frequency detectors,i own a laser trident 2 and a sov GT,I use the laser with the stock coil.Best wishes corbett.

I bought one not knowing anything about it and took it to the Franconia strewn field area to try and find meteorites. It is a little tricky to tune but once it is set it doesn't vary much. I found everything but meteorites - bullet casings, hot rocks, nails, and magnetite. Bring a sample of what you intend to look for and then optimize the settings to detect it. Then you are good to go.
I went to Quartzite to attempt to find gold nuggets in a well picked over area and found none - but I'd say I found the same sort of items I found when I switched over to a Whites Goldmaster II. I'd say the Tejon is as sensitive as you would expect but takes some experimentation of settings so that you don't get them wrong and miss a target. Many of the (good) targets I saw people find would likely be found by an even simpler detector... Iron rejection is a good thing to have but I'm not sure if I managed to get that set right as I still found a lot of iron things. My simpler Compadre is a great machine for its cost. The discrimination capabilities are pretty amazing in my simple trials with various metals and coins.

To add to this topic, I took the Tejon to the Santa Barbara Minelabbing day and did pretty well for a first timer. Ended up winning a Propointer25 and found a ton of stuff. Some way deeper than the contest material. But boy, if that sand had been wet it would have been totally over. It doesn't work well in wet sand at all. I'd like to know what you think of the Sovereign GT as doesn't it have iron discrimination? How does it do eliminating trash at the beach?
