Mosfet switching time

I was making multiple pulse induction circuits using IRF9630 p-channel mosfet but the range is very low (couple of centimeters for 10*10*10 cm hollow iron cubes), even after trying multiple coil designs and 3S lithium batteries
I suspect the problem is that the mosfet doesn't cut the current...

May be a little off topic but its what we build our detectors for. They finally released the pics and a little more info. This was found right here
in butte county nor cal. Bob (digger bob) who owns Comstock metal detectors is where I buy most of my gear
and he was deligated to do the promotion...

So i assembled surf pi 1.2 kit and tuned the offset pot so it reads 0v. Made a coil from solid core copper wire with plastic insulation it's 1.7ohms at 22 turns.
Started testing my setup with regular metal objects and it worked ok, but with gold is a different story... It just doesn't detect any...
