  • thanks dan for the feedback
i made a flat spiral pcb coil last days and will try this first
another think is a small basket coil
with the brn pi and the basket coil (nearly A4 format) i am able to detect a nugget from 0,39gram in a few inches, was also able to detect the 0,39gram nugget with a 18cm monoloop coil with baracuda
but the 45mg nugget is a hard task

if i have no succes with my present pi detectors the chance will get a new chance from me (with the first a had no luck)

    • Good luck with your tests! I have never built a 4" spidercoil but expect it would be about the right size for your testing. Do you intend to take this into the field or just test it on the bench? For small gold CHANCE original preamp adds too much delay about 10us due to saturation and that masks the response from small gold in the range of 5 grains or .3 gram. To correct this the 2 stage amp is required.

      Dan

Alan, you are one of many in the past year who have been interested in getting the CHANCE PI kit from Silverdog. Last September I made a request for more kits from Silverdog but I think he was fully occupied with the MINIPULSE kits at that time. Qioazhi also made a request at that time but we have not had a response yet. Perhaps he now has time to compile more kits. I will say that the 2 kits I received from Silverdog a few years ago were very good in quality. If you read through this thread I have detailed the modifications I made to the original kits to get CHANCE PI to it's current performance.

          Regards,

          Dan

            • george, can we do a poll post to find out how many would like to buy a chance kit?.
andy might be persuaded to do a run if enough are interested, the only way to know really would be a poll.
maybe someone else could do a board run, or even kits untill we have some numbers we wont know how viable it is.

                • Good to have you back Kellogs! I don't know much about the Mirage detector but it seems that it has some happy users. Good luck with your build of it. Have you decided what coil you will use with it? Great coils are at least half of the challenge!

                  Cheers,

                  Dan

I think the Mirage is a fine choice. You already know you can get help here if you have problems.

Thanks Andy! Will you be able to provide the Atmega chip programmed with the V1.2.1 firmware as in the past? That is the last version available and is the one you had programmed before. This will help greatly those not having the capability to do it and has been a stumbling block for many.

                            Regards,

                            Dan
