    Yes WM6 you are right!
    Cheers!
That's not me. You've confused me with someone else.

If either of you think that taping a cheap calculator to a cheap radio with give you an LRL, or even a mediocre metal detector, then you are sadly mistaken.
Ivconic - I cannot believe that you are supporting this nonsense. I thought you were opposed to LRLs.

Dear Qiaozhi, I am opposed to LRLs too, but there are LRLs and LRLs and in this case we are talking about LRLs. I hope so.

        I am.
But one thing is "workable" and quite another "useable". So... it is "workable" for sure. Is it "useable"...? I can't say.

Now I'm the one that's confused.

WM6 - What are you trying to say?
The video shows an interesting way of using two household objects to make a simple metal detector. It is a curiosity, that's all. You could not seriously use it for treasure hunting. By the way, I first saw this video many months ago, and I tried it ... and it works ... but only very badly.

You should move this discussion to Remote Sensing, instead of the Schematics Forum.

Bravo Qiaozhi, good show! So you are believing in this exciting LRL? And yes, without properly tuned angle between both unit and tuned unit delay it works only badly.

No - I am not "believing" in this simple metal detector, or its use as an LRL. Besides that, it's far from "exciting".
Now you are extracting the urine...

Sorry, this is only joke, i couldn't resist this occasion...

Does anyone know how to adjust the sensitivity pod on a Whites 5000 GEB ? I can see two black boxes just above the plastic battery holder when you look inside it from the back door.
Is it the one on the left or the one on the right?

Hi , I now have a schematic for the Whites 5000 GEB but can't see the sensitivity trimmer ? Any idea where it's at? Any help is appreciated.

                            Upper-right corner, just below Q1.

Thanks Carl. I had this thing going but I wired the battery box up backwards and I think it blew something. I can't work the threshold with the button in now. It will tune threshold without button pushed. Also won't detect anything. Everything else works: Battery check, sound, etc. I am about to give it up.

The batt check & sound run straight off the battery, most everything else runs off "VCC" which should be 9V. Measure test point 12 to make sure the 9V regulator is working. I'm guessing not.
