  • encloser box for PI

    Hi guys.
i was wondering if anyone could recommend a enclosure box for a Sniffer XR-71 DELTA PULSE PI that i am going to put together.
i will have to relocate the Potentiometer to somewere else on the front pannel of the enclosre, as they are set to far back on the board. so that means that the threaded area on the Potentiometer will not come through the front pannel. that means you can not put the washer and nut on to help keep the Potentiometer still.

    thanks in advance guys.......

This is a Situation where you need to make a Custom Designed box, (With a jog where the pots mount.) Possibly using ABS Plastic.
You can melt this together with Methyl Ethyl Keytone. (MEK) or Acetone also works.

you may do additional false panel for the pots inside, figured, with brascets maybe, where you will keep its by nuts. you have to attach the panel also inside anywhere, to the board for example.

Been Contemplating using one of these for my Barracuda. Hang it from the Arm Cuff. Im sure they make larger ones. Easiest to just Remote locate the pots. AluBoxJameCo.pdf

You probably bought the board ready. If you do yourself, you can edit the tracks.
In your case, you can mount the knobs on the axles shown on the panel (the axes of the potentiometers are long enough to fit the knobs) or remove the potentiometers and connect them to the wired circuit board.

                      Hi again guys.

hi have been making a start of putting the Sniffer XR-71 DELTA PULSE together that i bought from off fleabay. some thing that i have noticed though. the instructions for the controls on the circuit board that i was sent. shows 7 Potentiometers on the board, but the circuit board that i bought off the

fleabay seller. it only has 6 Potentiometer on it?
so my question is. what controls on the board do i actully have.
also on testing the board with a 27cm coil that i have. am not getting very much depth. 20cm is the max that i can get with a 3" jar lid. and 50cm" with a 11" pan lid?

Don't know about the Controls on that machine but the Depth issue is most likely the need to set the Damping Resistor to suit. And you not having the Controls configured right.

I actually had to cut into this enclosure to get the XR71 to fit, but in the end a reasonable finish. Sorry I don't remember the box size. Perhaps the better option is to use a different pcb, or move the pots.
However this Sinko board does work very well - I am amazed the detecting distance of the square coil pictured (450uH) when this machine is adjusted correctly. 500-1100 uH coils also work well.
