all the books named contain multiple erros, and most angry think that they copied each other

but one serious book with own invention i can suggest is from Wolgang Friese, you can not buy this book anymore and mr. friese is not willing to do more copies
if you looks for infos about real deep detectors you should watch for long wave locators

books form sch?ler and gatowski contain only old stuff, today you would handle them as toys
        bad schematic and layouts

        btw
i am higly interested in one copie of a book from mr Friese

sorry, this is what i mean
            http://www.friese-electronic.de/ortu...rtungsgeraete/

the other book i have alreday also the cd archive
but there you wont find all infos for a diy detector

the cd and the book are more like a catalogue where he show how to connect and combine the different modules

the very important book is the one he dont sell anymore, there you find detailed infos

so it is possible to build a very stable unit for detecting ground anomalies, like bunkers or caves
first he shouted out and published all infos and later he see how much potencial it has, (in a commercial manner)

But it is still offered on his web page - maybe as "Komplet" only:

                Hi again,

Just by way of a small update to my original posting and tiltle of this thread "Best book question and introduction" I am pleased to report I ordered a copy of Inside the metal detector which arrived last Monday (Feb 3rd 2020) and I have almost finished reading it. Cant put it down in fact :-)

The book is well paced, well structured, well written and has so far answered all of my outstanding questions regarding the inner workings of metal detectors. I look forward to firing-up the soldering iron and doing a few experiments in the shack/workshop.

                Regards,

                Ionburn (AKA Des)

This way (not respect authors intellectual property rights), we will never see 3-th Edition of ITMD.

                            Hi again,

This is just a brief follow-up to my own thread opened two years ago. Yes, 2-years ago!

I purchased, read and digested ITMD a couple of years ago and can honestly say the book more than lives up to expectations. An excellent grounding in the technology of metal detecting and very well written.

Recent events over the past couple of years caused something of a distraction but we are now in a happier place and I find myself picking-up the book again for a second reading and also look forward to browsing the technical threads on this forum ounce again.

                            Regards,

                            Ionburn.

I will take a look at the Technical Books, Papers, and Literature section and hopefully "catch-up" on developments.
