Yes, if you keep raising C (or lowering L) with that oscillator, you eventually get good sine wave, but normal lower voltage (around V+ magnitude).

BTW: If you put diode between tank and transistor collector (plus side of diode on collector), you get symmetric waveform, still spiky, but interesting.

It would be cool to get good sine wave at 60V -- I think somehow possible with circuit that pulses the coil at just the right time -- I suspect can find such with google, or mod this one.

I am very interested in such "super-resonant" designs for super-deep detector. Also I have a hell-of-a-lot of 24 gauge wire I need to use somehow...

Much nicer waveform -- but normal voltage, not exciting high voltage. Actually just increasing R1 seems sufficient without other changes. But larger cap value also improve shape.

I have 2907 on some of them, never reach full 16Vpp.

Also, the difference between these 2 is so small... you notice just different linearity... with good eyesight...

You can't get 19V a tx from 8V supply using this colpitt's scheme.

If you get 19Vpp something is "special" or wrong:
- you have a bad regulator that put 9.5V there instead of 8
- you have fully resonant tank running at that frequency and then amplitude will be higher than expected, about impossible in such configuration to mantain full resonace there... for obvious reasons related to design: tgs has no fully resonant oscillator

So I think you read it wrong or are posting rivers of BS now...
