Try the miniature audio transformer at the bottom of the page (LT44). The ONLY function this provides is 180 degree phase shift between the two channels of the machine.
No surprise Fisher went bust. In the UK they have lamers as dealers who know nothing about metal detecting, only about ripping people off . I contacted Fisher and TOLD them the machines they were making were rubbish and would not sell , and that they should go back to making the 1266 X2.
Even now I can sell a good second hand 1266 for around £200 ($370) and people bite my hand off to get at them.
So now you have the “hard to get hold of” part that's been holding you all back.
I have a Fisher 1266-XB detector. Very nice, but can be a bit heavy.
Are you sure they've gone bust? Is this not the Fisher website?

    • Yes, Fisher went bust. I knew about a year before BH bought them that they were heading for the rocks.

Fisher sales in the UK were pracically ZERO after the 1266 was dropped, and JA sat on their rears (as usual) and pushed Limebin as hard as they could. All models in Fishers remaining range are not very good at all. They are designed for the US market and, like Garrett, they just don't cut it in the UK. Not quite sure why but they seem to lack "Oomph".

Yes that IS Fishers website, but do you see ANYTHING on there you would buy?? Nope, me neither, all junk now sadly.

      • Sean, can you speak anything about Fisher 1270 vs. 1266? we have got zero of the info on 1270.
        TIA

Hello ,The T-1 transformer should not be that hard to replace !!! It is a simple transformer , one primary , and one secondary that is center tapped . Carefully un-solder the T-1 from the 1266 circuit board and use a voltmeter to measure the d.c. resistance's , And then with an inductance meter , read your inductance's . Then find an equivalent transformer with cross reference numbers "Not the Fisher Number" !!! And then test the replacement. When you find the exact T-1 replacement , you then will have a "Metal Detector Project" that will be worth your time and money........A "REAL DEEP-SEEKER"...........Take care Everyone........................Eugene

Good Morning Everyone . You know I was just looking at the 1266 schematic again . Now I see that the transformer is connected in series with the transmit TX-coil and with the parallel capacitor form the LC circuit . I do not know if the transformer's primary or secondary winding is used for the oscillator , but it would make sense that the secondary side is the one that is center tapped. This would be lots of FUN for someone who has a 1266 machine . Seeing Oscilloscope readings on both side's of the transformer with a 2 channel scope , this would answer many questions !!! And please do not forget to post your photo's and Schematic's of your "OLD FORGOTTEN METAL DETECTOR'S" on this posting-thread here !!!!!!!!! Have a Good Day...........Eugene

              Hey Eugene!

That Tek S/T was my all time favorite detector so far. It was very powerful.

I was a Teknetics dealer in the 80's and found a huge pile of CW relics with it. Went into the water with in in some lakes, and into the ocean in Pueto Rico.

I have a full size schematic of it packed away in a box somewhere. George Payne designed it.

Hello FRANKMD , Thank-You for your important information today , and good to see you back on Geotech Again !!!! I read some information on another Forum you posted on , from way back in 2001. And I am very interested in the TEK S/T Schematic , I hope and pray you still have it , and you can find it . George payne is and was , way ahead of his time , his designs and ideas are still being used today . 2. Discovery Electronics 3. Bounty Hunter 4. Teknetics 5. Very Good Reputation , Past and present . Back to Topic . The TEK S/T was a very Deep Seeker at 6.92 khz , it was selling from store shelves around 1987 and by the mid 1990s was Dicontinued . It required 8 "C" cells and 1 nine volt battery . It had a couple minor problems but I heard it could out perform most Detectors of Today , especially the one to two hundred dollar range detectors that flood the market Today !! You are more than welcome to post the schematic here , since this Detector is no longer being manufactured , and it was discontinued years ago . And my e-mail is posted here also . I just want to see if the TEK S/T is an improoved / modified Red Baron ????........Last I heard George Payne was only selling one model of his Discovery Baron ??? To me , In my opinion his Discovery Module Idea was Great , first of its kind in the industry !!! It should be brought back now , technology is better so the designs would be better and go much deeper . Design a dual-module , P.I. and VLF in one housing , and you would cut the digging in half , by 50% . Anything detected beyond 10 inches you must dig ........He was at least 20 years ahead of his time on his patents and designs . Here are the photos again , kinda fuzzy but they will work here again . Any more comments are very welcome about this Great Detector you see in the photos !!!!! My e-mail for schematics is amtech2005@yahoo.com ..........Thanks.......Eugene

                • Hi again Eugene,

I'll try to find the S/T schematic, but I moved from Eugene, OR (to MD) 2 years ago and still haven't unpacked all my boxes.

I worked with George Payne at an industrial metal detector company where George works now. I was pretty much responsible for the job he has now but I wish he'd get back to hobby detectors.

I didn't think the S/T had that 9 volt battery, I wonder if that is for some mod? I think George told me that the S/T had twice the transmit output voltage of any VLF detector. When I worked with George he went over the S/T schematic with me. I'm going to try and find another S/T even though it will be difficult to find one.

I'll continue to try and find the schematic. It is a full size one (maybe 36"x36"?) so I'm not sure how I'll post it. At one time I made copies and sent them out to several people..

                  HH

                  Frank

Hello , It has been almost two months since my last "Old Forgotten" Post's !!! So here are two Great Relic Machines that have dissappeared and are no longer being manufactured !!!! I heard , they were last sold in stores about 2003 . Also , can you guess the difference between the 1st and 2nd model shown on the top photo . Both detectors are Great , but there is only one difference between the two !! The answer is in the last , Bottom photo . I will post a depth test report on both , later on ........................Regards.......Eugene52/Member/Stalni-Clan

                        • ST

Would run for 30 seconds on that battery. Those blue pods were full of C cell Ni cads. Drew about 170 ma. Fatal design flaw was those toggle switches with rubber boots on. Boots would get holes in easily and next time in the sea. ST was smoking like a Russian.

...............I HAVE A GOOD sized collection of Vintage detectors......Looking thru the various posts i see that a lot of people have no problems with taking the detector apart and posting pic's of all the internal parts especially the circuit board.....................I guess that I am a bit more squeamish than most ............my nightmare would be that I couldn't get it back together right...............and it wouldn't work right any more!!...............The best that I can do is to take some external pic's plus maybe to open the battery door and maybe even open up the control box but as to removing the circuit boards so I could give a very clear picture is really out of the question!!.........Joe
