I program the pic with programmer(here is picture)
And where is that protction mode, because every time when J like to program the pic,the first mesage is(the file does not contain a device ID value)and I have PIC16F84A,and program software is icprog, and I try with winpic800 and same erors and programing faild at 0000h that is the final mesage
I think that my pic is burned(not for sure)
        regards to all
        Hi,
like I was guessing you're using a "bad" programmer hardware: the programmer you use (JDM) is somehow faulty in some cases... cause it has not a separate power supply.

Sometimes that kind works too...(really I maked 3 or 4 and all worked at my PCs) but that depends on the port hardware on your PC(s).

If the port doesn't drive the appropriate (enough) current or has too low voltage levels it's really unlikely you'll get it work and program your pic.

A simple thing you can try before discarding it is change the i/o delay. But, always, you cannot be sure it will work until you'll try to program a device.

You need something like this to have more chances:

        http://www.rentron.com/Myke4.htm

Also , keep in mind you need not too long cabling between port and programmer hardware, say not more than 70cm.

        Kind regards,
        Max

          Hi Mac

I noticed something on your schematic. D7 appears to be reversed. If its getting the 12 volts from the TX line the diode is blocking it. If you look at the link Max provided at Rentron they use a 10K in series from TX to MCLR pin on the pic without a diode. During programing the MCLR pin needs to 12 volts. I not sure I understand your programer, maybe someone else confirm my thoughts.

              my old JDM

              Hi Macobt,

I found my old JDM programmer.
In the attached file you will find a .pdf file with master image for PCB, several photos of the programmer, a couple of settings screenshots, the file icprog.sys that you have to put in the same folder of icprog.exe while setting driver options.
I tested it again today and still works fine with a PIC16F84-04/P both with icprog and WinPic800.
For Icprog remember to select "windows API" in Hardware settings and "Enable NT/2000/XP Driver" in Options-Misc.
Icprog version is 1.06B downloaded from http://www.ic-prog.com/index1.htm together with IC-Prog NT/2000 driver (which is icprog.sys).

              I hope this will help.

              Ciao

                  Nothing new, my friend.
It's the same schematic I saw in your previous posts; just to say that this PCB is (for sure) free of errors.

                  Good luck

p.s. I'm not sure but this .hex file should be an ancient attempt of a driving stage for a pulse induction MD

                    Programming the PICS

I have extemsive programming wht PICS. I used to use PIC programmers from various vendors but on advice from friend bought the PIC programmer from the company that makes them, namely, Microchip. their programmers are excellent and I have never had a problem with them.

I program in machine code and no higher level code using their downloadable PIC lab which has eventhing and supports their programmer. I tried the elcheapo route and gave up and numerous problems dissappeared.

                      MACBOT,

Make sure that the port settings in the programming application match the port settings in Windows device manager.

                        pic programs

I use a pickstart plus and Mplab and have no problems. Machine code is a struggle on its own. You do not need extra problems introduced.

                          Hi,
                          extra problems ?

The picstart plus is a Microchip product... one can buy at e.g. Maplin for just ...say... £157 !

Wow ! That's hot! The price of programmer I mean!

The extra problems are also at budget I think...

anyway, even if I have not such troubles and can buy one at £157 BUT the idea of spending 157 £ will let me about depressed... expecially if I can do the same thing (program a pic16f86a) using some crappy homemade stuff... say at 2£ of junk incuding wire...and connector.

I can use the extra 155£ for more useful things... like buying a lot of irish whiskey! Happy new year!

                          Kind regards,
                          Max
