    Hello,
here are some pictures of the control panel. How should I use these buttons for the best performance?
    Thanks.

Miguel, Sorry for the late response but I've had some family problems to deal with! You had some red marks that seem to be in the wrong spots. Place the detector on your bench or kitchen table away from all metal! Turn on detector, move volume dial to the 7 or 10 mark! If this makes the unit erratic, turn it back to 7 or 8! Detector Mode use the Discrimination- Foil setting. Discrimination dial put on about 4. Here in the States I would say to make sure that it will accept the U. S. Nickel, but in Germany? Not sure where I would set it? Sensitivity set on the 7 to 8 mark, very seldom would you set it on the 10 mark as this would make the detector very erratic! While holding the push-button down on the end of the handle, Turn the tuning control until you get the threshold sound! The Threshold sound is the lowest sound that you can comfortable hear. Also this Threshold point can be lowered if you use headphones. Release the push button! Lower the searchcoil to a metal free patch of ground, if the sound stays the same - take off and hunt! If the sound increases or decreases retune the detector by pushing and releasing the push-button again! Take off and hunt, if the threshold fades out or increases just push and release the push-button switch again! Also keep the coil approximately 1 inch off the ground or you can scrub the ground !Now all of this is in the Discrimination Mode. If you want to Relic Hunt switch to the Normal mode! Now this is a All-Metals mode with no discrimination! If you are interested in the Normal Mode, I can go into more details on another day! Right now My teenage daugher is harrassing me for her computer time! So if interested, I can discuss this latter this week! Hope that some of this will help...................Joe

          Hi Joe,
Thanks man for the instructions. The first picture I posted is from another C&G Wilcat detector that someone offered in internet.
Unfortunatelly my detector hasn't arrived yet.But it is already somewhere here in Germany, perhaps it stays at the Frankfurt Post stuck
I hope within this week I will have it. As soon as it arrives I will let you know
how it reacts to these tests.
These old maschines I'm sure are so much sensitive as the new digital ones.
Thanks again Joe for your help.
Greetings from a Southamerican in Germany.
          Miguel

            Hello,
today I received my C&G Wildcat. To my big surprise it came along with a carrying bag and a user's manual !
So I scanned it and post it here free for those who have these detectors but no user's manual.
This detector seems to be in great condition, but I still need to get some batteries to test it.
            Best Regards,
            Miguel

                Hi,
I have been testing this detector at the woods. In the "Normal" mode I had
problems with the Ground controls because at some places it game me some false signals .That means there was no metal, but the ground itself "peeped" as metal!
So I changed to the "Foil" mode and these false signals were gone.
I think the Ground control button ist not working the way it should, also the push handle button.
The notch between ground surface and aprox. 10 cm high gave no sound.Only above 10 cm. of ground surface comes this speaker sound.I don't know if this is the normal way,but thats the only way I get !
Nevertheless this detector is more sensitive as my other MD 3006 made in china detector.
                MfG.

                  Hello,
I tested this detector in our garden.Among a plenty of rusty nails, screws, bolts etc.
I found this old pocket knife in aprox. 0,10 cm depht.
It seems to work better on "All Metall Modus" as on "Disc".
                  Freundliche Grüsse aus Deutschland

Joe, I picked this up at a flea market today, It's marked Bounty Hunter III, and seems to work ok, it's in like new condition with the exception of the latch for the battery compment. I don't know the age but sure could use the manual.
                    Thanks, Jim

I cannot figure out the settings on the gd1290 metal detector

I really could use some help on figuring out how to adjust the fine tuning knobs on the gd1290 i never owned one before and i got this second hand.Thank you. OTE=Joe(TX);48199]I can write simpified or detailed operating instructions on almost any VLF/TR's, NON-VLF'S, AND VERY EARLY MOTION DETECTORS. In some cases, I may need an email including a close-up picture of all the control knobs and switches. These types are what I use and collect! I have over 36 years of experience using these detectors. I can also troubleshoot any operational problems and give advice on any minor repairs! I'm NOT an Electronic Repairman BUT THIS FORUM HAS MANY WHO ARE!!!! HAVE ANY QUESTIONS PLEASE ASK............................JOE[/QUOTE]
