I was wondering about this nice project earlier, but on the films in youtube saw that this MD has a problem with ground rejection. For example gives a beep on a "wall" in empty hole. I hope this will be fixed. And can`t see any info about ground balancing, is it auto or manual?

I am not author, I give info from RU zone what I see. if there is a problem you have to go in contact with the author directly.
do not wait sweetty from russians you do constantly. make projects yourself and show us the result.

I built this project. It is well documented in russian (use google translatete). Firmware has some nice features to tune coils, TX coil is driven by DAC, firmware allows you to change freq and watch current in the coil. You can spot coil resonant frequency easily. I tested with Tesoro uMax coil which is not a good fit for FortuneM. The results were OK but not spectacular. I will need to build a proper coil for it to really test it well. Russian tests are on youtube. You will need PicKit2/3 to flash firmware. With the right coil it should be very nice discriminating MD. This project is being actively developed right now.
There is some tricky soldering required to build it.

asked the seller about the price - 7USD for bare board (his pics in post #5) and 4-5USD for shipping. he sends overseas.

FortuneM: with proper custom build DD 10.5 inch coil results are much better. 1C US copper detection: 8" - solid; 9" OK; 10" -weak; small gold wedding band: 12"; VID works well on even weak signals. For comparison: TGSL with 10x9 web tesoro coil has similar range, maybe a 1" shorter. All bench tests only.

                            BTW:
Search for "8.4V Rechargeable Battery Pack+ AC Charger For Bike Light" to find a nice power source for this project.

The best tip in a long while, thanks. I was looking for "energy bank" battery packs before, but they are rubbish since they employ very noisy switching regulator. These contain only batteries, and no noisy regulator.
